Soon you may not require a laptop to take your presentation to your client’s office. If you ever forget an important document you can always access your Gdrive (A.K.A Google Drive) and access it through the internet from there.

What is Gdrive?
Gdrive is a virtual operating system which would be offered by Google. It will support everything from saving your presentation files/mp3 to various applications. However, it is not very clear as there is no official statement launched.

If you listen to the rumors the service would be launched this year. This would be the most anticipated launch of the year if it so happens.

However, till now there is no official announcement on the Google Blog. But technology stakeholders believe that this is compared as a rival for Microsoft on various news and blogs on the internet.

Somehow it is difficult to believe that there would be any competitor of Microsoft in the OS arena which currently holds more than 90% of the home PC market.

Contradictions
However, there are eyebrows raised against the concept of uploading your confidential data on Google servers. As it may hinder your privacy and the info could be used or transfered to the govt.

But, logically all the data we upload on the internet including email attachments and other such ifnormation is already on third party web servers. So authenticity of such a statement has to be logically cross checked.

Moreover, why would anyone get worried if the governement watches your files till you are not doing any illeegal activity?

A Gdrive would definately a great service if it is launched. It would be a end of services like rapidshare if not Microsoft!
