Best Windows IDE for Ruby on Rails

Just couple of days back i started learn Ruby on Rails. When i started searching for an IDE to write RoR(Ruby On Rail) programs i came to know that the best IDE TextMate is only for Mac.
I got a little more confused when i read in forums where would praise different set of IDE’s.
After trying a couple of them, I tried Aptana Radrails. I was reluctent to try it because it was too big in size to download.
I was wrong! The download was worth the features it offers!Radrails is very good for me as a newbie.
It makes the setting up of Mysql and WeBrick server easy for me. It automates the process of creating the Rails app wizard.
Other code highlighting and hint completion is definately most important features available that any RoR developer would love to have!
If you are already an R0R developer and looking for a change from your current IDE. I would suggest to give Aptana RadRails a try.
If you are new to the world of Rails and stumbled on this article searching for how to set up RoR on PC, here is the process that i found a lot easier and simple to follow!
- Download Ruby and install it on your computer.
- Download Mysql Essential (A Mysql package with minimum set of files, good for learning purposes). You may install it with default options.
- Mysql Administrator
This is a GUI tool (Similar to phpmyadmin) that can help you to create and manipulate databases without going to the command window! - Download Aptana
While installing Aptana, it may ask for installing ruby extension, you may chose that option. Rest of the installation should go by default.
This may not be the best selection out there, but for a beginner like me, it is pretty good!
