Phishing is when a hacker designs a web page that imitate login screen of the original website.

Both the pages looks exactly the same. The only difference between original and phishing page being URL. (either a spelling mistake or using a sub-domain)

URL example:-

  • www.twitter.com (Original) Vs
  • www.twitter.anotherurl.in/login(Sub Domain) Vs
  • www.tvitter.com (spelling mistake)

Take example of this latest twitter phishing attack which took the world by storm- (twitter blog post about it)

The only way you can get trapped by a phishing attack is by URL.

Using Google you can never get phishing attack
I am a very lazy guy(heh sort of !). I almost always go to any website through Google!

This way i can be sure that i am going to the right site and not the phishing one! (also that i have to type less!)

This idea was inspired by Digital Inspiration post on What do you use Google for which revealed that there are many others like me who use googleWhen they are too lazy to type. com

So being lazy can be good, sometimes eh!
