Looks like Microsoft has listened to the complaints for Vista and made Windows 7 better at compatibility and speed!

The benchmark test Windows 7 can run even on a eeePC just proves that! The installation test was conducted by onsoftware site ( details here)

For those who don’t know, eeePC is one of the cheapest laptops available in the market with least configuration that would able to run internet and do a little bit of office document thingy.

Vista, which was reported to be bloated and buggy would not run on any computer with less RAM. While eePC has only 512 RAM

So, if your kid asks you to get Windows 7 on his laptop you certainly would not have to buy him a new one but install on his current laptop.
