How to start your own forum for free

I have been hosting my blogs on Blogspot as it is free. I was searching for a way to create a forum for free. (After just getting the .com/.info domain name)

Here is a step by step guide to make it up and running:
  1. Go to www.110mb.com and create a free hosting account. Yes! it is completely free and never show any ads on the site.

The only downside is that they have a limitation on bandwidth. But won’t be an issue if you have a new forum.

Once you start getting more users on the forum you can always upgrade to higher bandwidth plans.

  2. Go to your account settings in 110mb.com and click on control panel
  3. Here you will have a link to fantastico. This is basically a management system using which you can set up your own forum.
  4. Click on Fantastico and go to admin area. And Choose PHPBB forum (PHPbb is the most popular one, you may also choose simple machines which is nice too!)
  5. Click on install and you are half way done!
  6. Now go to Godaddy.com and register a domain (I love Godaddy, it’s easy and cheap)
  7. Once you are done with buying a domain name go into it’s control panel and look for “Total DNS Control and MX Records”
  8. Now you need to go to Cname records.
  9. Now go back to your 118mb.com hosting account and find your hosting IP address.
  10. Put this IP address in the @local cname record.
  11. Now wait for 48 hours and things will set up in that time!
