There are many free web hosting companies available on the web. Many of them are quite reliable and many webmasters host their site on their servers.

Here are some of the reasons why you should not opt for free hosting services:

1. Hidden Costs
   Most of the free online web hosts have various hidden costs. Most of them will take your site down if it exceeds the allowed quota. You will never want to lose customers for that reason.
2. Limitations
   If  you create dynamic websites that have database and other dynamic content.

   Chances are that the free hosts will not offer you access to .htaccess and other important files to set up redirect or error 404 pages

   In many other cases they will not offer you FTP support. (So you cannot upload a site all together but individually)

   
   

3. No rapid support
   Free virtually means no support. (You can wait for their emails for days and weeks but you might never receive an answer) .

   On top of that they will show advertisements on your site to cover the costs.

4. Control panel problems
   Hosting becomes very easy if you use a matured and flexible tool to manage it. Something like cpanel or Webhosting manager.

   Many of them use their own panel which is not only slow but also gives you less flexibility and control over the site administration.

5. No Redirect and Sub domain
   The free web host do not offer professional control panels to manage your hosting account. Hence you will not be able to create new redirects.

Free web hosts are good only when you think that you need a static website which won’t have many visitors. You should not use free hosting especially if you want to install any script like WordPress etc.
